On August 8, 2025, the prestigious Nakasero Hall at the Four Points by Sheraton in Kampala was the setting for a historic and heartfelt gathering of Grade One Magistrates. In a remarkable display of unity, they came together to honor the outgoing Chief Registrar, now Judge Her Ladyship Sarah Langa Siu, and to warmly welcome the new Chief Registrar, Her Worship Pamela Lamunu Ochaya.
The event, a first-of-its-kind upscale private celebration, was entirely sponsored by the Grade One Magistrates, who used the occasion to present Judge Langa Siu with a special gift, mirroring the gesture of the Registrars and Chief Magistrates during the thanksgiving event in Tororo, Kwaapa.
The evening, which began at 6:30 PM, was expertly emceed by Her Worship Kyembe Karim of Pallisa and Her Worship Daphine Ayebare. The atmosphere was one of camaraderie and reverence, graced by distinguished guests including the Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Registrar, Her Worship Patricia Amoko, and the Inspector of Courts, Her Worship Dorothy Lwanga.
Adding a personal touch, Dr. Godfrey Siu, fondly celebrated as the “Chairperson of the Judicial Spouses Association,” attended with his and Judge Langa Siu’s two sons, bringing warmth and familial joy to the occasion.

The event was meticulously organized by a dedicated committee led by Her Worship Aisu Nicholas as chairperson, with Her Worship Daphine Ayebare as deputy and Her Worship Turibamwe Christine serving as the treasurer. Their leadership, combined with the generous contributions of all Grade One Magistrates, ensured the evening was a resounding success, reflecting their collective commitment to honoring their outgoing leader and welcoming the new.
Speeches throughout the night painted a vivid picture of Judge Langa Siu’s transformative tenure as Chief Registrar, marked by compassion, excellence, and divine guidance. The magistrates’ heartfelt reflections celebrated her legacy while expressing gratitude for her leadership.
The Magistrates’ Petition emerged as a recurring theme, woven into the evening’s conversations with lighthearted yet poignant undertones. Her Worship Pamela Lamunu Ochaya, the incoming Chief Registrar, responded with grace, pledging to receive the petition and uphold justice with fairness and dedication.
The evening was not without its moments of laughter. Her Worship Dan Mwesiga, one of the event’s generous sponsors, delivered a side-splitting speech that left the audience in stitches, earning him heartfelt appreciation for both his humor and his contributions to the event.

As the night drew to a close, the celebration extended into a vibrant after-party at Level 8 of the hotel, lasting until midnight. This landmark event was more than a farewell or a welcome—it was a powerful testament to the unity, resilience, and shared vision of the Grade One Magistrates.
By coming together to sponsor the evening and gift Judge Langa Siu, they honored her legacy in a manner that echoed the gratitude shown by their peers in Tororo, Kwaapa, while setting a new standard for judicial camaraderie.
This unforgettable night will remain a cherished memory, a beacon of hope and togetherness for the judiciary’s future.
