Arusha, Tanzania, the “Geneva of Africa,” is playing host to the East African Magistrates and Judges Conference, and Uganda is stealing the show.
Led by the Deputy Chief Justice, the Ugandan team is making waves with a record-breaking delegation of 106 delegates – the largest in the history of the EAMJ Association Conference.
On day one, the Ugandan team was on fire! UJOA President, HL Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya, skillfully moderated the first interactive session, setting the tone for a day filled with insightful presentations.
HL Justice Tadeo Asiimwe took the stage, offering a Ugandan perspective on Criminal Justice Reforms, highlighting the country’s efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its criminal justice system.
Hon. Lady Justice Anna Mugenyi also delivered a paper on Civil Justice Reforms, providing valuable insights into Uganda’s initiatives to enhance access to justice, reduce case backlogs, and improve the overall efficiency of its civil justice system.
And if day one was impressive, day two was just as exciting! HL Linda Lilian Tusiime Mugisha presented Uganda’s perspective on enhancing labour dispute settlement systems, and she was so good that she was begged to be the main speaker on the labour topic.
